EVAL™ Processing / Basics / Machine Design

Machine Design

Thanks to the wide variety of resin grades available, EVAL™ resins can easily be processed on conventional fabrication equipment without special modifications. Depending on the requirements, EVAL™ resins can be coextruded with different types of polyolefins, nylon, polystyrene, polycarbonate and polyester.

Similar to other polymers, EVAL™ resins can be damaged by excessive heat, so proper extrusion conditions and equipment design are very important. Appropriate equipment design, i.e. cylinder, screw, adapter and die, is essential for successfully processing the EVAL™ resins.

To avoid build-up in the machine, it is important to avoid concave or convex parts, acute angles and dead spots. It is recommended to not use melt pumps.
